Whew, moving is exhausting! I'm glad to have Presidents Day off to unpack, but there's still tons to do. Moving day went really well. The movers were 3 1/2 hours late, but that's to be expected, I suppose.
Here's a picture of us on moving day:
It's quite an adjustment, moving from a newer apartment to an old house. Our apartment was well insulated by all the apartments around us, but this house is very drafty. We have baseboard radiators, two space heaters, and a wood stove, so we're not going to freeze, but we're nervous about running up the electric bill. The wood stove made it pretty comfortable in the house last night. We built a nice fire the very first time we tried it. Here's a picture of our first fire:
I better sign off and get dressed to head to the doctor. I have my glucose test today - wish me luck!

Oooooh, cozy fire! I love it! Heavy drapes help keep homes warmer. And you can put those long bean bag things along the bottom of exterior doors to reduce drafts. Also, I think they sell film that you can put on windows for increased energy efficiency. You might want to talk to your landlord and see if he/she would be willing to help make the house a bit more efficient. And if you want to get super frugal, uplug EVERYTHING when you're not using it (microwave, TV, computer, coffee pot, etc.) Appliances and electronics use energy even when turned off.
